The 21st edition of the Francophone Theater Festival for young people officially kicks off in Piano di Sorrento. This is a significant initiative that has the full support of the municipal administration: for four weeks, from today, February 12th until March 8th, the city will see its streets animated by more than 450 young people coming to Piano di Sorrento from various countries such as Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Italy, Romania, and naturally from France and its distant island of Reunion.

This event, according to the organizers, is made possible thanks to the concrete and important support of the Municipality, with the Deputy Mayor Giovanni Iaccarino (delegate for Culture) and the official of the culture office Giacomo Giuliano. The city allows the events to take place at the magnificent Villa Fondi and its park.

The inauguration of the Festival will take place at Villa Fondi, next Friday, at 3 pm, with the presence of the Consul of France in Naples, Mme Lise Moutoumalaya and the linguistic attaché, Mr. Raphaël Mercier. "For our city," says Deputy Mayor Giovanni Iaccarino, "hosting the new edition of the Francophone Theater Festival is a great pride. An important, constructive event begins, which will once again allow us to open up to new cultural, artistic and generational horizons. In addition, I underline another valuable aspect: Piano di Sorrento will be able to host many girls and boys and will have the opportunity to offer a new structure of interest in this period of the year. As a delegate for Culture, I am happy to underline that this Festival now represents a point of reference for the city." The thread that unites all the participants is the use and interest in the French language, a guideline that is linked to the enthusiasm for the Theater, a meeting point between all cultures, a universal language that abolishes borders and cultural differences.

Each troupe presents its show that draws from the classical and contemporary repertoire, French or of other nationalities. In addition, a large space is dedicated to collective creations.

During these meetings the interaction between theater and French language is constant, the young people, in turn actors and spectators, work in numerous workshops animated by professionals who discover or deepen certain theatrical techniques such as improvisation, voice setting, body, scenic space, dance, mime, clown, percussion, space and play, but not only. This stay allows everyone to confront new theatrical experiences, new approaches, to exchange ideas, to weave friendships and to discover the beauties and sweetness of the Sorrento peninsula.
