A 29-year-old Nigerian, believed to be the leader of a criminal group called "Eiye", part of the Nigerian mafia, has been arrested by the carabinieri in Castel Volturno on charges of having kidnapped, imprisoned and beaten up for a whole night, with unidentified accomplices, a compatriot with whom he apparently had common business; the video of the violent mistreatment was then tracked down on chats of Nigerian citizens, where it was published to assert the strength of the group "Eiye" and ridicule the victim.
The preventive imprisonment order was issued by the investigating judge of the Naples court at the request of the Neapolitan DDA, which coordinated the investigations carried out by the carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Casal di Principe Company; the charges are kidnapping for the purpose of aggravated extortion by the mafia method, aggravated personal injuries, robbery and private violence. The incident occurred in October 2022. The carabinieri began to investigate after the victim's complaint, a person with no criminal record who had common business with the accused related to the sending of some checks to Nigeria.
The victim, resident in Casal di Principe, according to what emerged, would have been taken by the 29-year-old and the accomplices, armed with machetes and axes, from a bar in Casapesenna, then taken to an apartment in Casal di Principe where he would have been held all night, stripped, beaten and released only after the payment, by bank transfer, of a sum of about 1,500 euros paid by relatives in Nigeria.
