37 Migrants Arrive in Naples Following Geo Barents Landing

In the late evening of yesterday, 37 migrants arrived in Naples from the landing of the ship Geo Barents of the NGO 'Doctors Without Borders' docked at the port of Marina di Carrara (MS), assigned by the Ministry of the Interior to Campania as part of the distribution plan for foreign citizens applying for asylum who have arrived in the national territory. This was announced by the prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari. The migrants - adult men and unaccompanied foreign minors - were escorted to the dedicated headquarters in the Neapolitan capital and were distributed among all the Campanian provinces, finding hospitality in the extraordinary reception centers active in the regional territory where they will wait for the necessary time for the examination of the application for international protection by the competent Territorial Commission for the recognition of refugee status. The adult foreign citizens are all of Syrian nationality. The nationalities of the unaccompanied foreign minors are: Egyptian, Eritrean, Somali, and Sudanese.
