A Morning Dedicated to Melanoma and Skin Cancer Prevention

An entire morning dedicated to the prevention of melanoma and skin cancers, with free visits and consultations, is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at the Mediterranea clinic in Naples. 'Let's look at our skin, learn to read the pages of this mysterious book' is the title of the prevention campaign aimed at combating melanoma and skin cancers. The event, organized by Dr. Riccardo Acri, the new head of the dermatology outpatient clinic at Mediterranea, will be structured in two parts: a meeting during which how to recognize moles: the so-called 'ugly duckling'; but there will also be talk of the ABCDEF of melanoma and Nmsk (Non Melanoma Skin Cancer) lesions. And a second part that involves, instead, the dermatological visit aimed at preventing the possible disease. From 9 a.m., in the clinics of the facility on Via Orazio, the consultations will be held by the team of specialists formed by doctors Bianca Castelli, Vincenzo Desiato, Anna Perrotta, Ortensio Letizia, Maria Ferrillo, Adriana Di Guida, and Maria Cristina Acri, coordinated by Dr. Acri, already scientific head of the Neuromed Dermatological Center. 'Dermatology prevention saves lives - explains Dr. Acri - and, to raise an initial alarm, can be the patient himself. The skin is certainly the largest 'organ' of our body. It can be easily observed daily, and when anomalies are noticed, these can be brought to the observation of the specialist. Prevention is therefore fundamental insofar as we can make an early diagnosis, see for example the development of melanoma. A tumor, this, that grows first on the surface and then in depth and, thanks only to the removal of a small piece of skin, where the melanoma in its initial phase was settling, we can save a person's life.
