A Three-Year Maintenance Plan for Naples' Molosiglio Gardens

A three-year maintenance plan for the 21,000 square meters of the Molosiglio Gardens: the largest adoption of public greenery in Naples by a third sector association, which has engaged a leading company in the care of historic gardens. The protagonists of the synergy are the Municipality of Naples and the GreenCare Award Association, chaired by Benedetta de Falco, who will present to the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, the Councilor for Green and Health, Vincenzo Santagada, and the President of the First Municipality, Giovanna Mazzone, the intervention plan for the next three years, tomorrow, Saturday, March 16, at 10.00 am at the Molosiglio Gardens. Among the novelties that will affect the Gardens is the already restored rose garden, with the planting of 45 rose specimens around the Monument to the Infantryman; signage in Italian and English dedicated to the presence of birds, created in collaboration with the Association of Ornithological Studies of Southern Italy, with which nests and feeders have also been installed to facilitate the life of birds in an urban environment. Furthermore, the dog area has been restored with the evidence of a few simple rules to be respected for peaceful coexistence between four-legged friends. Another novelty of the adoption is the equipment that is being used for maintenance activities: without fuel and battery-powered with lawnmowers, brush cutters, and blowers of the new generation. Batù srl, which has long begun a process of converting all equipment from combustion engines to battery, is taking care of this. "With the maintenance of the Molosiglio Gardens, Batù becomes the first company in the city to manage the ordinary maintenance of a public park with exclusively battery-powered equipment. We cannot afford to procrastinate on issues of environmental sustainability, health, and well-being of our workers," declares Giovanni Masucci, CEO of Batù Srl. Among the flower beds that have regained much of their beauty, the annual ceremony of delivery of the Civic Recognition Medals 2024 dedicated to deserving citizens, curators of urban greenery, wanted by GreenCare Award, will also take place. Among the awardees, the president of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples Rosita Marchese, the president of the Foqus Foundation Rachele Furfaro, the former director of the Mann Paolo Giulierini, the director Claudia Brignone with the midwife Teresa De Pascale, the navy captain Aniello Cuciniello, commander of the Naples Navy Headquarters, the entrepreneurs Carmine Ferrara, Nunzia Petrecca, and Gianluca Picone, the art historian Antonella Pisano, the associations FAI Delegation of Naples and Born to Read, and some professors and scholars of the University of Naples Federico II, including Riccardo Motti, Massimo Ricciardi, Elisabetta Moscato, Maria Vittoria Gagliardi. After the award ceremony, a free guided tour of the area will follow to make known not only its green component (Giovanni Masucci) but also its historical-artistic prerogatives (Antonella Pisano) with the presence of fountains (Mimma Sardella).
