Alcohol-Induced Domestic Violence Leads to Arrest of Nigerian Man

It is presumably the consumption of alcohol that contributed to the aggressive and violent behavior exhibited by the 35-year-old Nigerian man towards his partner, who was arrested by the carabinieri of the Piedimonte Matese station yesterday afternoon. The intervention of the military was requested by the victim herself, who had taken refuge in the home of her neighbors. When the carabinieri reached the house where she had taken refuge, they found her sitting on the couch in tears, with evident swelling and redness to the left zygomatic area and shoulder pain. With the woman were also her two minor daughters, one of whom, according to the mother, had been slapped by the father so that, although terrified, she would stop crying. The woman told the carabinieri that she had been beaten, for no reason, by her drunk partner. The man, found at his own home, visibly agitated and with a strong smell of wine on his breath, first appeared surprised at the presence of the carabinieri but then, pressed by the questions of the military, defended himself by stating that he had beaten his partner in response to an attack he had received. According to what the woman reported at the station, the man's assaults against her had begun about three years ago, namely since he had started to use alcoholic substances. In particular, the victim reported that the partner, every afternoon, returning from work, began to drink numerous beers (at least 10) and once drunk became aggressive and violent. The next morning, after the drunkenness had passed, he would apologize for his behavior. For such assaults, she had never filed a complaint, limiting herself only to living separated in the same house. The arrested man was placed under house arrest in a location different from the family home.
