Alfonso Gatto Foundation to Award Emilio Isgrò with the 2024 Prize on World Poetry Day

On Thursday, March 21, for World Poetry Day, the Alfonso Gatto Foundation will award the great artist and poet Emilio Isgrò the Alfonso Gatto Prize 2024. The Sicilian master will be present at 11 a.m. at a meeting with students from DipSum and DiSPaC, at the University of Salerno, and at 7 p.m. at the public meeting "Emilio Isgrò between Art and Poetry" in dialogue with Enzo Ragone, at the Provincial Art Gallery, where the provincial councilor delegated to culture, Francesco Morra, will bring institutional greetings. Conceptual artist and painter, but also poet, writer, playwright, and director, Emilio Isgrò (Barcelona of Sicily, 1937) is one of the most globally recognized names in Italian art between the 20th and 21st centuries. Since the 1960s, Isgrò has created one of the most revolutionary and original artistic paths, earning him several participations in the Venice Biennale (1972, 1978, 1986, 1993) and the first prize at the São Paulo Biennale (1977). Emilio Isgrò has been living and working in Milan since 1956.
