Announcement of the Winning Bid for the Upgrade and Modernization of the Cancello-Benevento Line

The tender for the integrated contract for the executive design and execution of the works related to the intervention called "Upgrade and modernization of the Cancello-Benevento line of Eav" was awarded at the end of 2023. This was communicated by the press office of the Volturno Autonomous Body, announcing that the expected meeting between the president Umberto De Gregorio, the rup of the intervention and the territorial representatives, aimed at illustrating the progress of the works on the Naples-Benevento line, scheduled for Monday 29 January, has been postponed to another date yet to be agreed. The contract in question, as always reported by the company, went to Rti Euroferroviaria srl Armafer srl and involves interventions for about 90 million under the Pnrr. "The intervention - inform from Eav - consists in the complete renewal, modernization and restoration of the Cancello-Benevento railway line with standard gauge, also through the hydrogeological arrangements of the sections for which there is a concrete landslide risk, with track defense works and water regulation works and the adaptation of the railway track and total renewal of the armament. Also planned is the elimination of interferences connected with the presence of a fiber optic cable laid on the palisade, of throat channels for the distribution of communication and signaling cables and of signaling bodies positioned along the railway site". The start of the works, from what the transport company always reports, is expected approximately within the second quarter of 2024, with the deadline set by June 2026.
