Another wall is at risk, just a few meters from the one that collapsed on Morghen Street as a result of the sinkhole that opened at dawn on Wednesday, February 21. It is the wall at the end of Solimena Street which is, as the crow flies, just below the black hole that swallowed two cars injuring four people.
On that wall, which for years has been the subject of a dispute to determine who is responsible for its maintenance, copious water infiltrations have appeared which, in light of what happened on Morghen Street, cause considerable concern among residents and traders in the area. In the past few hours, some technicians have carried out a brief inspection, then nothing more but water continues to flow from the wall.
'For years we have been asking,' explain the inhabitants of the neighborhood, 'that this wall be secured with ordinary and extraordinary maintenance. We ask for help from Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and Prefect Michele di Bari so that the same drama that is affecting Morghen Street is not repeated here.'
