The cultural association "La Città del Sole" and the network "ArcheoCales" organize for Sunday a walk to discover the archaeological reuses coming from the ancient Cales and inserted into the urban fabric of Pignataro Maggiore. The practice of reuse (or re-employment), which spread with specific characteristics in new constructions throughout Italy in late antiquity and the medieval period, represents a precious testimony of the history of a territory. Walls, squares, churches, and palaces are dotted with epigraphs, inscriptions, fragments of tombs or monuments that have gone to compose new structures and over the centuries have become an integral part of the city core. The meeting is scheduled for 9 in the parking lot in front of the Monte Oliveto primary school, then the group will move in stages to the church of San Giorgio, in via Armando Diaz, in Piazza Umberto I, in via Duca d'Aosta, in via Regina Elena, in via Mannesi and in contrada Grazzano. The return is expected by 12.30. The walk organized in Pignataro Maggiore, which starts a collaboration between the two associations, also aims to allow a mapping of the reuses present to avoid future spoliations - as unfortunately has already happened in the past.
