He was wanted because he was seriously suspected of receiving stolen goods, fraud, and document forgery related to the use of counterfeit medical prescriptions and the sale of medicines containing psychotropic substances: the man, a 57-year-old of Venezuelan origin but resident in Italy, was arrested overnight between Monday and Tuesday by agents of the State Police who executed a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Judge of the Court of Pavia in December 2023.
The agents of the Railway Police Department for Campania, on long-distance escort service on the Intercity Night train departing from Milan and headed to Syracuse, on the Florence/Salerno route, noticed the man who was wandering suspiciously on the train.
At the sight of the policemen, he began to become agitated pretending to look for a power outlet to charge his cell phone. The agents checked him and, from the findings, it emerged that he was wanted. At the first useful stop, he was taken to the Railway Police Offices of the Operational Department of Rome Termini, where the arrest was formalized.
