Baroque Ensemble Accademia Reale to Perform at Sant'Antimo's Sanctuary

On Tuesday, March 26th at 7 PM, in the evocative setting of the Sanctuary of Sant'Antimo Prete e Martire, the baroque ensemble Accademia Reale, conducted by Giovanni Borrelli, will perform Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. The ceremony will be concluded with reflections and comments by His Excellency the Prefect of Naples, Dr. Michele Di Bari. This event, desired by the Special Commissioner of Sant'Antimo, is part of the schedule of events of the P.O.C., funded by the Campania Region, and aims to celebrate, as the religious tradition requires, the beginning of the Holy Week activities. This initiative is also proposed to pay homage to the glorious Neapolitan musical school, rediscovering the sacred repertoire and letting it be heard again in a church, the place for which it was born. 'With this event,' explains the Special Commissioner Gabriella D'Orso, 'we wanted to diversify the program of events designed for the P.O.C., with the aim of involving the largest number of citizens, adults and young people, on broad cultural themes, legality, and civic education.' And so, after the musical show 'Promenade a sud' held at the Romeo School on March 6th, and the march for legality that took place between Casal di Principe (March 19th) and the municipal garden of Sant'Antimo (March 21st), today's concert will be followed by the workshop dedicated to the theme 'Cinema and Society' (four weekly meetings from April 3rd to 24th aimed at students at the Giovanni XXIII School) and the food and wine festival 'Noce e dintorni', at the Villa Diego del Rio, next May 2nd.
