Benevento Direction: A Cultural Exchange Journey for Elementary School Students

"Benevento Direction" for 48 students and 9 teachers from the elementary school of Bénévent-L'Abbaye, on a journey to discover the Italian cultural heritage. On April 8, the delegation from the French town twinned with the capital will arrive in the city for an unprecedented cultural exchange, in collaboration with the "Bilingual" school. The pedagogical project planned by the visiting school stems from a reflection co-proposed by the teaching staff and the Municipality of Bénévent-L'Abbaye. Just a year ago, the celebration of the twinning was a highly attended ceremony at the Benevento Municipal Theater. Now, the teachers and local administrators of the French Municipality wish to, on one hand, introduce their students to the richness of our region's cultural heritage, and on the other, allow them to benefit from a pedagogical exchange experience with a local school, the "Bilingual", already well predisposed by its nature to student exchanges, and whose students learn as many as 4 different languages in their five years of study. The children will study the origin of the names of the two cities, engage in activities related to the twinning and shared history, and of course, communicate in English. The purpose of this exchange lies primarily in the meeting between the French students and their Italian counterparts, and then it will develop with a subsequent meeting, where the Italian school will be welcomed in France. The priority is indeed to establish a lasting collaboration between the schools.
