The volume 'Incredible but True' was presented in Naples at the Clubino on Luca Giordano Street.
Originating from a writing contest promoted by the web magazine www.dalloscaffalealweb.it, by journalist Carlo De Cesare, already a presenter of the column 'The Shelf' of TGR Campania from 2004 to 2019, the volume published by 'The Valley of Time' includes 38 stories selected by a jury chaired by Ermanno Corsi, author among other things of the preface to the volume, and composed of Mario Rovinello, editorial director of the publishing house, by the journalist Renata Buonaiuto, responsible for the narrative area of the site and by the collaborator Anna Di Fresco.
The volume, with a charming cover signed by Federica De Cesare, is based on the same line as the previous text 'A Different Time' published by Guida and also the result of a similar initiative promoted by the site in 2020 but on the theme of experiences lived during the lockdown period.
The 'Incredible but True' writing contest officially started on September 28th of last year saw the participation of hundreds and hundreds of manuscripts by as many authors, some of whom are quite well known in the literary scene, not only in Campania. A source of pride not only for the organizers of the event, but also for the lesser-known authors, who saw their works published alongside the latter.
The competition announcement, also publicized through a promo video published on the site and spread on social media, required participants to send an unpublished themed manuscript, with a maximum of 10,000 characters, to the site's email. Submissions were received not only from Naples, the headquarters of the website and the publishing house, but also from Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Monza, Legnano, Albisola, Genoa, L'Aquila, Monopoli, Catanzaro, Ragusa, and many many other cities. Among these, 38 works were chosen by the jury and published in the volume in question.
Many authors participated in the presentation of the volume, at the Clubino on Luca Giordano Street, some of whom also came from other cities. During the event, interventions by Renata Buonaiuto, Ermanno Corsi, Mario Rovinello and Piera Salerno who read a passage from the work of the oldest participating author, Antonio Spagnuolo, a well-known Neapolitan poet translated into six languages.
The community of Sant'Egidio, present in the room with a representative, the commitment on the part of the Publishing House 'La valle del tempo' to donate part of the proceeds from the sale of the volume in support of street friends.
