Caserta Man Arrested for Attempting to Steal Rented Apartment's Furniture

If it were not for the intervention of the carabinieri, who caught him in the act, a 50-year-old from Caserta would have appropriated all the furniture in the apartment he had been renting for a few months in Macerata Campania. The owner of the furnished apartment, who lives on the upper floor of the same building and had seen his tenant, who was also behind on rent, loading disassembled parts of the home's furniture into his car, requested the intervention of the military. The subsequent inspection carried out in the apartment allowed the military, accompanied by the owner of the apartment, to ascertain the absence of several pieces of furniture or parts of them that the tenant, over time, had managed to make disappear. The damage amounts to about 7,000 euros. The carabinieri in the apartment found and seized a series of tools suitable for dismantling. The 50-year-old, well-known to the law enforcement agencies, who had also tried to oppose the carabinieri's access to the apartment, was arrested for misappropriation and placed under house arrest.
