Caserta Municipality and Professional Accountants' Order Join Forces to Support Over-indebted Citizens

The municipal council has approved the memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Caserta and the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Caserta, aimed at protecting individuals in a state of over-indebtedness. The goals of this agreement are to assist citizens who find themselves in a situation of excessive debt, also in order to safeguard their personal dignity; to raise awareness among citizens, professionals, and entrepreneurs about the features and opportunities offered by the new regulation, in order to counteract the crisis and relaunch consumption and businesses in difficulty; to spread financial education in upper secondary schools, promoting a process of financial literacy aimed at preventing future over-indebtedness phenomena. With this memorandum of understanding, therefore, it is intended to allow citizens (consumers, unemployed, professionals, and non-bankrupt entrepreneurs) access to over-indebtedness crisis resolution procedures, using as operational tools the body established by the Order as a free service for the knowledge phase and collection of the necessary documentation for the initiation of the practice. The Municipality of Caserta commits to providing adequate information on the initiatives in the municipal territory through its communication tools, including, within its institutional website, a link to a web page dedicated to financial education and the body for over-indebtedness crisis resolution; to sponsor the organization of local educational and informational events on the subject of the protocol; to collaborate with the Order in the preparation of educational programs to be delivered in the upper secondary schools of the territory. The Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Caserta, for its part, in addition to information and assistance activities for citizens dealing with over-indebtedness problems, will take care of the preparation of the educational content of the financial education project in the schools of the territory, in agreement with the Municipality. "In a complex period like the current one, with many families finding themselves in difficulty - explained the Councilor for Good Administrative Practices, Annamaria Sadutto - we decided to establish this important collaboration with the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Caserta, thanks to which we will provide many people with a valuable tool to face a very widespread problem. The order will not only guarantee assistance in terms of over-indebtedness but will also provide training in financial education, thus making citizens aware and also preventing the onset of critical situations."
