Celebrating Domenico Modugno: A Midsummer Night's Dream Album

On the thirtieth anniversary of his death - which occurred on August 6, 1994 - Sony Music Italy pays tribute to Domenico Modugno, with "Come in un sogno di mezza estate" (Like in a Midsummer Night's Dream) an album that encompasses his musical world and contains Spanish versions of his most famous songs never before published in Italy. This new record project comes six years after the last collection of songs by the singer-songwriter, with the intention of rediscovering his musical world also for the new generations. The album, available for pre-order from today (https://SME.lnk.to/Modugno), is titled "Come in un sogno di mezza estate" and will be released on May 24 in digital and in three physical formats: double 180gr black LP, double CD with poster (made by Ciao discoteca italiana) and bonus tracks, and finally, double vinyl (blue and orange) numbered with poster (made by Ciao discoteca italiana) available exclusively for Sony Music Store (https://store.sonymusic.it). Domenico Modugno, born in Polignano a Mare in 1928, was the voice that sang Italy, was one of the most famous singers in the history of Italian music, if not perhaps the quintessential interpreter of this genre and exported Italianity all over the world. His music career took off in the '50s, when his participation in the Sanremo Festival, together with Johnny Dorelli with "Nel blu dipinto di blu", earned him international fame. The song, also known as "Volare", not only won the festival 65 years ago but also became a worldwide success, earning him numerous international awards, including two Grammy Awards, a record, that of being the first Italian pop artist to win two Grammys, still unbeaten. "When I was a teenager once my father told me: you must know how to distinguish between vanity and ambition", says Marco Modugno, son of the famous singer-songwriter. "The vain person only wants to become famous, for one thing or another, it makes no difference to him. The ambitious, on the other hand, says to himself: I can do this thing well and in this thing, I will become the best of all. My father knew how to write songs and in this, at least for a certain time, he became the number one, the number one in the world".
