Celebrating Matilde Serao: A Tribute Event at Pomigliano d'Arco

"Happy birthday Matilde Serao... period and a new paragraph!" Thus, the high school in Pomigliano d'Arco, dedicated to the journalist co-founder of Il Mattino, titled the event organized on March 16 at 5:30 PM in the Gloria theater in collaboration with the Italian Institute for the History of the Risorgimento, the moral sponsorship of the Municipality and the Regional Council on the Condition of Women. At the heart of it, themes and reflections dear to Matilde, followed by the award ceremony for students of the fourth and fifth grades of high schools who have created works on the "history that builds the future" and the students of middle schools who participated in the contest "One, hundred, thousand ideas for a happy world". Matilde calls us to responsibility and concrete action to pursue with courage the values and ideals to which she dedicated her life," is the message relayed by the school principal Luisa Patrizia Milo along with teachers, students, and their families. "Fighting inequalities, criticizing militarism, emphasizing the centrality of women, shouting against violence, valuing the immense human and moral heritage of our land: our students will bring to the stage the most original fruits of this reflection," the commitment. Attending are the mayor Raffaele Russo, council members Giovanni Russo and Elvira Romano, with Ciro Romano, president of the environmental center for Sustainability Education, Ilaria Perrelli, president of the regional council of Campania for the condition of women, Raffaella Ruocco, administrator of Prodoos, Benigno Casale, representative of the Regional School Office, Marilicia Salvia, editor-in-chief of Il Mattino, Laura Di Fiore, director of the Naples committee, Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento. And, with video greetings, the regional councilor for Schools, Lucia Fortini, the director of the Regional School Office, Ettore Acerra, the journalist and writer, Titti Marrone. The event is presented and coordinated by the teacher Roberta D’Ovidio, while the theatrical direction is by her colleague Maria Sorrentino.
