Celebrating Pino Daniele: Initiatives and Contests to Honor the Legendary Musician's Legacy

Efforts intensify for March 19, Pino Daniele day, a date when the joyful Neapolitan would have celebrated his sixty-ninth birthday and name day. In the afternoon at the museum dedicated to him, Pino Daniele Alive, and at the evening memorial at Palapartenope, the launch of the Musicante Award - Pino Daniele Prize, a live pop rock music contest aimed at young artists with professional musical knowledge and a repertoire of original works, will take place precisely on the 19th. The goal of the event is to promote the ecosystem of values behind the creation and live performance of musical works, in addition to bringing together young people who cooperate in creating culture through musical research, forming an exemplary community of healthy cohesion and society. All of this is conceived by the Pino Daniele Ets Foundation, directed by the singer-songwriter's son, Alessandro Daniele. The selected participants will face live auditions in which they must demonstrate their musical talents in performance, composition, and arrangement. The finalists will attend an advanced course where they will be prepared for the final phase of the contest: a commemorative show for the tenth anniversary of Pino Daniele's passing in 2025, where they will share the stage with major figures of Italian music. And this is the announcement of a great event, produced by Friends & Partners, in Naples, to remember Nero a Metà: at the stadium? In Piazza del Plebiscito? The finalists will receive the Musicante Award, and the overall winner the Pino Daniele Prize, consisting of a cash prize, concert activities, and participation in other major events. Furthermore, thanks to the partners of the record industry, all finalists will have the opportunity to sign record and publishing contracts. Registrations will open, precisely on March 19, by filling out the form available on the Pino Daniele Ets Foundation website (www.fondazionepinodaniele.org). The deadline for submitting applications is set for May 31, 2024. The contest includes two categories: AFAM (High Artistic Musical Education) Category - This category includes 'Solo Singer-Songwriters accompanied by bands' or 'Musical Groups' currently attending or graduated from the same Conservatory or Institution recognized by the AFAM high artistic education system. Academy Connection Category - 'Solo Singer-Songwriters' who have never been students of the AFAM system and those who have attended a Conservatory without graduating can enroll in this category. For this category, each finalist will be assigned a band of young musicians from the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan, a partner of the event.
