Cesa Municipality Awarded at the Plastic Free 2024 Ceremony in Milan

The Municipality of Cesa was awarded in Milan, at the Carcano Theater, during the "Plastic Free 2024" ceremony, sponsored by the European Parliament, the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, and the Municipality of Milan. A delegation led by the mayor Enzo Guida was present, who was handed the coveted turtle-shaped award, conceived by the volunteer organization active since 2019 and aimed at those administrations at the forefront of the fight against plastic pollution. "With us in Milan was also Antonella Cristiano, local plastic free representative," explains Mayor Guida. The municipality from the Atellana area was one of the two centers in the Caserta area to surpass the evaluation of the internal committee with two turtles out of three. The other municipality was Falciano del Massico, which obtained one turtle. In Campania, seven municipalities have received the recognition. The evaluation is based on 5 pillars: fighting against illegal dumping, territory awareness, urban waste management, virtuous activities of the entity, and collaboration with the non-profit organization. Mayor Guida, accompanied by the environmental councilor Alfonso Marrandino and the local plastic free representative Antonella Cristiano, was satisfied. "This success," explains Mayor Guida, "is the result of work carried forward with dedication and sacrifice over these years by the municipal administration and consistently supported by the entire citizenship, which has played its fundamental part. After all, we have always placed the themes related to environmental protection and the virtuous cycle of waste collection at the center of our administrative commitment, because we are firmly convinced that nothing can be built if not starting from the respect of the territory. The Plastic Free award represents a new exciting starting point that will spur us to always do more and better."
