Challenging Weekend for Campania-Puglia Committee Athletes at Roccaraso

A challenging weekend for the athletes of the Campania-Puglia Committee who, despite the difficult snow conditions, competed in three races over the weekend at Roccaraso, involving over 700 athletes from the Master (over 35 years) and Pulcini (under 12) categories. Sunday saw the final of the XXII edition of the MasterMind circuit which awards the Italo Kühne Trophy, the perpetual Challenge dedicated to the sports journalist, put up for grabs by his children Diana and Fabrizio and organized by the ski club 0.40. The Roman ski club “Czero6” achieved a winning poker, conquering, for the fourth consecutive year as the best team of the circuit, the Trophy that remembers not only the journalist but also the sportsman, passionate skier who gave so much impetus to Neapolitan skiing. In second place was the Napoli ski club and in third position the Posillipo ski club. In the Master A category, Nicola del Principe of the Czero6 ski club won Sunday's giant slalom, in the Master B category Andrea Ballabio of the Sai Napoli won with a considerable advantage, and in the women's category Maria Francesca Lagana of the Ascoli ski club. Noteworthy were the races of Michela Falco of the Napoli ski club, class of 1943, and the legendary Gianfredo Puca (magnificent vintage of 1941!) who won their category and both came ninth in the overall ranking. The weekend also saw the races that awarded the regional titles of the Pulcini categories, the young athletes below 12 years. Saturday saw the slalom and Sunday the Giant organized respectively by the Napoli ski club and the SAI Napoli. Among the Baby 1, Azzurra Pierro of the Ski Tribe and Benedetto Paladini of the Vesuvio ski club claimed the titles in both disciplines, while champions among the under 10 (Baby 2) were Martina Schiano of the 3000 Ski race and Rosario Boffa of the SAI in the slalom and in the giant Maya Vlassopulo and Edoardo Ruggiero both of the SAI. Regional champion of the cuccioli 1 category in slalom is, for 2024, Maria Rosaria Manfredonia of the Napoli ski club. Diego Di Menna of the 3000 ski race doubled the success both in the slalom and in Sunday's giant, which in the female category was won by Benedetta Luise of the SAI. Another double victory among the cuccioli 2 for Ettore Attilio Ruggiero of the SAI who won gold on both days of races, while the regional titles of the female category went to Emilia Boffa of the SAI (slalom) and Ginevra Di Pasquale of the 3000 ski race (giant). The Superbaby (born in 2017 and 2018) only competed in Sunday's giant won among the youngest by Gaia Oddis of Roccaraso (Abruzzese Committee) and Vincenzo Pietrolongo of the SAI and among those a year older Ginevra Taricani of the Napoli ski club and Guido Signoriello of the Ski Tribe.
