The Cilento cloak wins everyone over, even in Venice. Proof of this is the success achieved yesterday in the splendid setting of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, where a meeting on the ancient wheel-shaped cloak of medieval origins was held, moderated by Jacopo Nani Mocenigo Bentivoglio d'Aragona.
The evening saw the participation of Sandro Zara, an ancient producer of Venetian cloaks, with some historic and unique pieces, such as a black cloak with inlaid decoration with gold thread, Master Franco Puppato, a historic tailor from Venice with some of his Goldonian dresses, Arrigo Cipriani, owner of Harry's Bar, who wore a splendid white cloak, Franz Botre', director of Arbiter and precisely Ugo Cilento, owner of Maison Cilento 1780, with a cloak made in his own tailor shop with a double cloth weighing 800 gr, navy blue on one side and Black Watch tartan on the other, closed with a hook designed by Ugo Cilento that represents the needle and thread, a symbol of true craftsmanship.
Particularly admired was therefore the Cilento cloak, made in accordance with the Neapolitan tailoring tradition with a precious English fabric and not according to the precise processing standards of the historic Venetian garment: a choice that reflects the maison's ability to respect other artisanal traditions and, at the same time, merge different cultures and excellences. The great history of Cilento 1780, respect for tradition, and the search for elegance that has united the eight generations of Cilento and the great expertise and passion of Ugo Cilento are recognized in this creation with Neapolitan taste and Venetian inspiration, a city particularly dear to him for its history and for its undisputed charm and that once again, after the Golden Lion, recognizes Cilento as excellence in the field of tailoring and clothing.
During the evening Sandro Zara, Ugo Cilento, Franco Puppato, and Arrigo Cipriani were awarded by the renowned and prestigious glassmaker Seguso since 1397 with a work of art that symbolizes the meshes of the fabrics used by the Master craftsmen in their work. "Sharing with Venetian excellences my passion for elegance and style was for me a huge pleasure and a reason for great satisfaction, as well as receiving the recognition made by the Seguso glassmaker. A unique experience in a spectacular setting like that of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi," commented Cilento on the sidelines of the Venetian event.
