Civil Protection Exercises Scheduled in the Phlegraean Fields in 2024

From Monday, April 22, the first of the three civil protection exercises planned for 2024 in the Phlegraean Fields area will begin. This first test will take place at 'command posts' because the primary objective of the simulation will be to verify and validate the operability of the coordination centers and operational rooms in case of an intensification of phenomena related to bradyseism. In addition to the activation of the rooms and coordination centers during the test day - organized by the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the Campania Region, with the involvement of the Metropolitan City and the Prefecture-Ugt of Naples, and the municipalities involved, especially those of Pozzuoli, Naples, and Bacoli - the evacuation of four school complexes is also planned. The schools involved are the Madonna Assunta Institute in Bagnoli in the municipality of Naples, the Paolo di Tarso Institute in the municipality of Bacoli, while in the municipality of Pozzuoli the schools San Giuseppe and Giacinto Diano. Within the broader civil protection planning for the Phlegraean area, a second phase of testing is also planned to verify the operational procedures defined by the Emergency Plan for the bradyseism area, on May 30 and 31, and a third exercise, in October 2024, to test the National Plan for Volcanic Risk at the Phlegraean Fields.
