Climber's Peril on Monte Costa

Fear in Volturara Irpina on Monte Costa: a climber was stranded on a wall after slipping along the via ferrata. The man, unable to proceed on his own, requested emergency assistance. The report reached the operations room of the Provincial Fire Brigade Command of Avellino, which promptly activated the rescue machinery. A specialized team from the Alpine Rescue Station of the Guardia di Finanza (S.A.G.F.) in Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, accompanied by units from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps of Campania (C.N.S.A.S.) and the Fire Brigade, intervened on the spot. The S.A.G.F. soldiers, who quickly arrived in the impervious area, located the climber and checked his physical condition, fortunately good despite the mishap. The rescue operation was completed with technical rescue maneuvers on the wall, allowing the man to be safely retrieved and transferred to the base. The intervention, conducted in full synergy between the different specialized bodies, once again highlighted the efficiency and preparation of mountain rescue teams. The S.A.G.F., known as the 'mountain police', plays a crucial role in the safety of alpine environments, working closely with civil and military entities in high-risk scenarios. No serious consequences for the climber, just a big scare and the awareness of the importance of respecting rules and caution in high-altitude activities.
