Comicon Naples 2024: A Celebration of Pop Culture and Comics

Exhibitions, exhibitions, exhibitions. Always one of the highlights of Comicon, this year they are back in better shape than ever. The International Pop Culture Festival will host over 20 exhibition paths, more numerous than ever, from April 25 to 28 at the Mostra d'Oltremare in Naples. The program includes precious solo exhibitions dedicated to artists of the caliber of John Romita Jr., Magister Igort, the master Alfredo Castelli - recently deceased, and Special Comicon Career Award 2024 - the poster artist Mike Del Mundo, Glenn Fabry, Akab, and many others. Many thematic exhibitions will also be featured, which, for the first time in the history of Comicon Naples, will embrace the various festival souls: games, cinema, comics, and more. Among these: '50 years of Dungeons & Dragons', the most known and loved role-playing game; 'In the sign of Winx. 20 years of magic' to celebrate the world's most famous fairies; 'Spaghetti fantasy and epic brawls. The art of Brancalonia', the Italian role-playing game that has won over the public; 'ADCI Awards on Tour. Creativity outside the box', in collaboration with the Art Directors Club Italiano; 'CineArt Remix. Pop Culture Poster Reworks', where three authors reimagine movie posters; 'The unstoppable Ciccillo. 175 years of the first Italian comic book'; 'Where is Zazà? Fragments of a magazine outside the box'; 'Lavieri, today and tomorrow. 20 years of illustrated books', the story of a publishing house, and others that will be announced in the coming weeks, not to forget the Comic(on) Off exhibition program. For 2024, Comicon Naples inaugurates a new space. At the center of the now usual Original Artworks Area in pavilion 1 dedicated to Comics, which since 2019 has seen galleries and private collectors of original drawings as protagonists, the Artists’ Hall is born, a place to meet, chat, and purchase prints or artworks by great artists and cartoonists. The Artists’ Hall of Comicon Naples 2024 will consist of 8 stands, each dedicated to an author selected by the festival among the Italian and international protagonists of the Ninth Art, available during the days of the event to dedicate books and publications, chat with the public, and even create a drawing on commission! In this first edition, guests of the Artists’ Hall will include: Glenn Fabry, Lee Bermejo, John Romita Jr., David Lloyd, Fabio Celoni, Paolo Mottura, Claudio Castellini, and another Italian author who will be announced shortly. The Artists’ Hall will be the ideal place to support comic creators, meet the most loved authors, and discover new talents.
