Community Mobilization Against Violence on Urban Buses

After the assaults on drivers and the acts of violence that occurred on urban buses in the recent weeks, Civico 22 along with the Democratic Party, Città Aperta, Movimento 5 Stelle, Europaverde-Verdi, and Azione, with the involvement of the trade union and provincial associations, receiving support from Filt-Cgil, Uil-Trasporti, Acli, Federconsumatori, and Laboratorio Per La Felicità Pubblica, have organized a sensitization mobilization for tomorrow, at 19. The activists of the parties, movements, unions, and associations that will join the mobilization will get on the urban buses to show solidarity with the drivers and the users who daily use the means of transport, to listen from the patrons and the drivers themselves proposals for resolution and prevention of the ongoing assaults and to understand firsthand how the conflict dynamics that repeat on the local transport means occur. Together - it is stated in a note - we believe that repressive measures alone are not enough, which at most can be useful to identify and punish the perpetrators of the crime, even more urgent are preventive measures of a social nature capable of preventing any form of violence. The appointment, therefore, is for tomorrow, at 19, at the bus stop on via del Pomerio, near the Arch of Trajan. We invite the entire citizenry to get a ticket and participate.
