Confindustria and Campania Region Discuss Waste Management and Quarrying

Confindustria confronts the Campania Region on waste management and quarrying, strategic sectors for the territory. Both topics were addressed during the conference organized by the Union of Industrialists of Sannio from both strategic and technical perspectives. "We suffer from a serious lack of facilities," explained Giuseppe Pancione, president of the Confindustria Environment section, "and the failure to apply the regulatory framework that was supposed to give a new structure to waste governance with autonomy of territorial areas emerges." As for the extractive sector, the document prepared by the industrialists highlights that in the province of Benevento there is a shortage of about 1,300 cubic meters of limestone essential for the closure over the years of major construction sites such as the Naples-Bari High Speed Railway, the Campolattaro dam, and the Telesina and Fortorina road arteries. "We have limestone even near the ongoing construction sites, but we cannot extract it due to a regulatory short circuit," they point out from Piazza Colonna. "I have listened carefully to the instances of the territory," says Antonio Marchiello, regional councilor for productive activities. "I will confront with the companies and we will build a path that will allow us to recover GDP and jobs." Conclusions entrusted to president Oreste Vigorito: "Obstacles are not to be observed but to be overcome. We must find solutions and, all together, we can make it."
