Confrontation on Quarries and Waste Management Yields First Results

The moment of confrontation promoted by Confindustria Benevento on February 29th on quarries and waste management has produced its first effects. The Province has indeed forwarded to the competent regional bodies the request for an update on the limestone lithotype requirement. A note that follows a series of technical meetings with Ance and Confindustria in which companies from the mining and construction sector have repeatedly highlighted the chronic shortage of limestone material also due to the lack of updating of the real territorial requirement. The amount of limestone currently produced locally is equal to 90,000 cubic meters annually compared to an estimated requirement of 1,700,000 cubic meters. "The mining sector represents a real resource for the territory," explains Giuseppe Pancione, president of the reference section, "finally our instances have been shared by the Province and brought to the attention of the Region". Nino Lombardi, the top executive of Rocca, is also satisfied: "We have worked synergistically to enhance the potential that the territory is able to express starting from the need for limestone material necessary to cope with the large infrastructural interventions that are affecting the Sannio. In the immediate future, we count on the possibility of using aggregates deriving from the cleaning of river beds".
