Decomposed Body Found Near Overpass in Varcaturo, Giugliano in Campania

The body in an advanced state of decomposition found near an overpass in Varcaturo, Giugliano in Campania, in the province of Naples, could belong to a homeless person dead for two months. Last night, the Carabinieri of the Varcaturo station - alerted by local police personnel - intervened under the overpass near the road outlet of the State Road 7quater from Pozzuoli to Lago Patria. The decomposed body of a man was found on site, along with a bivouac, blankets, and personal belongings but no identification documents. The forensic doctor, who was called upon by the Naples North Prosecutor's Office, from a first inspection dated the death to about two months ago. There seem to be no signs of external injuries. The Carabinieri have seized the body and transferred it to the hospital in Giugliano in Campania for the subsequent autopsy ordered by the Naples North Prosecutor's Office. Investigations are underway to determine the man's identity and reconstruct the causes of death.
