After four seasons and a great involvement, Ivan Silvestrini has announced his departure from the direction of Outside Sea for the fifth season that is being prepared and will be on set in June, while the fourth is airing from February 14 in prime time on Rai 2, as well as on Rai Play with the boxset and two extra episodes. The new director is Ludovico Di Martino (director of the third season of Skam Italia and the film The Beast with Fabrizio Gifuni) as anticipated by Roberto Sessa of Picomedia at the Corriere del Mezzogiorno. The producer also spoke of a new team of five screenwriters, including two twenty-year-olds, led by Maurizio Careddu, who has been in the project from the beginning (while also leaving the creator and screenwriter Cristiana Farina).
"This is a letter to you who have followed Outside Sea, loving it, hating it, but almost always devouring it. In these wonderful years, spent largely in Naples, I had - Silvestrini wrote on Instagram - the privilege of directing a cast and a crew that were like a family to me, and really, when you are so well a part of you would want what you are experiencing never to end. I treated, as far as it was in my capacity, this series as something precious, like a long film, like a work of art... I treated each season I worked on as if it were the last, this year in particular, because if it is true that some stories are still pending I believe that the mystery about some events tells well the mystery of life. Outside Sea is life also in this, and if you just can't see the happy ending you were hoping for, see it from another point of view, with the eyes of the one who says the last word in the last scene". Now, however, the time has come to turn the page: "I don't know what will happen in the next season, when I made my decision they were still writing it, and I will wait with your same curiosity. I treated each season as if it were the last, but this time it's really the last, it is for me".
