Disruptions, Chaos, and Protests: Another Troublesome Day for Circumvesuviana Train Users

Faults, chaos, and protests: yet another day of inconvenience for users of the Circumvesuviana trains. The climax was reached around 12:30 pm when at San Giorgio a Cremano the express train coming from Naples to Sorrento, which had departed from Porta Nolana at 12:16 pm, was forced to make an unscheduled stop due to a malfunction. After moments of confusion and considering the presence of a significant number of tourists, according to some of those present, a unique solution was proposed: to take advantage of the arrival of the train headed to Poggiomarino to have the occupants of the latter disembark and transfer the travelers headed to Sorrento. Immediate, again according to the account of some witnesses, the complaints of the passengers of the 'stolen' convoy were triggered, who would have even threatened severe forms of protest in order not to allow it. Only after minutes of negotiations, the decision was made to 'reassign' the train to the travelers of the Naples-Pompeii-Poggiomarino line and to wait for the malfunction of the broken-down train to be repaired, which then departed from the station of San Giorgio a Cremano - as informed in a note by the Autonomous Entity Volturno - with about a 40-minute delay. There were repercussions, in terms of delays, for other trains on the Naples-Torre Annunziata route as well.
