Domestic Violence Incident Leads to Arrest in Historic Center

Last evening, officers from the General Prevention and Public Assistance Office, while on territorial control duty, acted upon instructions from the Operations Room and intervened in the historic center following a report of a woman assaulted by her husband. The officers, upon arrival, noticed a woman in a clear state of agitation, who told them that, as on previous occasions, her husband had first threatened her over trivial matters, even with the use of a knife and in the presence of their children, and then hit her with a heavy punch to the chest. On this occasion, a family member present in the building heard the woman's screams and therefore rushed to intervene between the two, allowing her to hide in the bathroom. The man, at this point, after continuous and repeated threats, including death threats towards his wife, left the scene only to be intercepted shortly after by the officers who detained and arrested him for domestic abuse.
