Domestic Violence Intervention in Naples Neighborhood

The voices are those of the neighbors, not coming from afar. The Pianura police station, a western district of Naples, is on the ground floor of a building on Via Galdieri. And from an apartment nearby, heart-wrenching screams, insults, and threats. Then a door slammed shut and the unmistakable jingle of a set of keys. It's night, the shops are closed. There are few cars around and the soldiers hear everything clearly. They reach the dwelling following the cries for help shouted from the window. A woman is trapped inside: her husband - she says - injured her and then locked her in the house. Thanks to the immediate intervention of the firefighters, the police break down the door and rescue the victim. A deep wound on her arm, caused by a stab inflicted during the argument. The woman tells everything, about the violence and the harassment suffered every day for some time now, even in front of the eyes of her underage children. The soldiers start the search and locate the husband after a few minutes, still on the street. He ends up in handcuffs, arrested on charges of domestic abuse. He is now in prison, awaiting trial. The woman's injuries are deemed healable in 20 days.
