Don Luigi Ciotti Meets Students to Remember Don Giuseppe Diana's Legacy

Don Luigi Ciotti, the president of the Libera Association, will meet with students of the Isis “Alessandro Volta” of Aversa on Friday, March 8th at 10:30 AM. The initiative, promoted by the Don Peppe Diana Committee and the coordination of Libera Caserta, is part of the events organized to remember Don Giuseppe Diana, on the thirtieth anniversary of his murder by the Camorra, which occurred on March 19, 1994, and the day of remembrance that falls on March 21st and which this year includes a national event in Rome. At the initiative, together with the school principal, Michele Di Tommaso, Salvatore Cuoci, coordinator of the Don Peppe Diana Committee, Marisa Diana, sister of Don Diana, and Augusto di Meo, the eyewitness of Don Peppino’s murder, will also participate. The morning will be coordinated by Gabriella Patricolo, of the Don Peppe Diana Committee. Don Diana, that morning thirty years ago, after mass, was supposed to go to work at the Isis Volta of Aversa, where he taught. He had promised his students and fellow teachers to offer a sweet to everyone because it was the day of Saint Joseph, his name day. “Thirty years after the murder of Don Diana,” says Salvatore Cuoci, coordinator of the Don Peppe Diana Committee, “we want to remember Don Peppe with a series of events, which will culminate on March 19th next in a large march, which will cross the streets of Casal di Principe. The procession will start from Piazza Villa and will wind up to the Cemetery, where the final interventions and the reading of all the names of the innocent victims of the mafia are planned. We invite schools to participate, to further strengthen the resistance movement that over the years has tried to build a strong barrier against the spread of organized crime.
