Dramatic Car Chase Ends in Arrest for 48-Year-Old in Afragola

A 48-year-old, already known to law enforcement, was intercepted last evening in the Salicelle district of Afragola, in the Naples area, while driving a Fiat Panda which had been reported stolen just a few hours earlier at the Gricignano di Aversa carabinieri station. The immediate searches, broadcast to all patrols in the circuit, allowed the soldiers of the Trentola Ducenta station to locate and intercept the stolen car in via Monti, in the Salicelle district of Afragola. Realizing the presence of the carabinieri, the 48-year-old, who was calmly driving through the city streets, suddenly accelerated, trying to evade the check with dangerous reckless maneuvers. During the dramatic chase, engaged with the carabinieri patrol, which lasted for several kilometers through the city streets, the fugitive repeatedly entered streets with no entry, speeding through the alleys of the Salicelle district. The mad dash only ended when the military managed to block his way and secure him. The man, taken to the barracks, was arrested and placed under house arrest pending trial by direct summons. He will have to answer for resisting a public official and aggravated theft. The recovered car, after the formalities, was returned to its rightful owner.
