Dramatic Rescue by Carabinieri in Maddaloni After Suicide Attempt

It had just passed 11 PM yesterday when the Carabinieri of the Operational Center of the Maddaloni Company received a call for help forwarded by a 22-year-old through the emergency number “112”. With a trembling voice, the young man told the operator that just a few minutes before, his father, shaken and distraught, had left with suicidal intentions aboard his own car heading towards Valle di Maddaloni. The sergeant on duty at the Center, after recording all the necessary data for tracing the man and his car, immediately activated the patrols in the circuit. Half an hour later, the patrol of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Maddaloni Company located, stopped on via Ponte Carilono, in Valle di Maddaloni, the reported car, still with the engine running and a man trying to connect a rubber hose to the car's exhaust, intending to inhale the gases once enclosed in the passenger compartment. The 52-year-old, upon seeing the military, immediately asked to be left alone and that he would not give up his suicidal intent in any way. After a long and complex mediation and thanks to the words and reassuring tone of the two carabinieri, the man let go and gave up his intent. A few minutes later, the carabinieri reassured and had the son and the medical staff of the 118 service intervene on the spot. The young man was thus able to embrace his father again and allow his transport to the nearest hospital for the necessary treatment.
