Drone Carrying Drugs and Phones Seized in Salerno Prison

A drone carrying over 800 grams of hashish and as many as six cellphones was identified and seized by the penitentiary police in the Salerno prison. The search began immediately after the discovery of the phones in a cell of a detention section. The ensuing checks then allowed the seizure of both the drugs and the aircraft. "We hope that as soon as possible, training of specialized anti-drone personnel will also proceed in Campania," emphasize Giuseppe del Sorbo and Giuseppe Moretti, respectively national secretary and president of the Uspp, who congratulate their colleagues "for the brilliant operation." Recently, five Penitentiary officers have obtained the qualification to train colleagues to face the longstanding problem of the introduction of drugs and phones in prisons through drones. "We have reiterated it several times," add Del Sorbo and Moretti, "it is necessary to equip the penitentiary police with adequate technological tools such as jammers (cell phone signal inhibitors) to defeat the introduction of phones into prisons." Finally, the two unionists recall that Salerno is missing as many as 60 agents and that "only with huge sacrifices is it possible to maintain internal order and security."
