Easter in the Parish of the Ascension at Chiaia: A Special Day for Children

One hundred children seated at a table for a special day in the oratory of the Parish of the Ascension at Chiaia. A step back in time to tell, through the food of the time, the Easter of the Jews in the times of Jesus. 'A way to involve the children by making them relive an important moment of the catechism journey showing them how Jesus would have lived Easter and remembering that, when he broke the bread at the last supper, he gave himself,' said the parish priest Don Giuseppe Carmelo, seated at the table with the children. During the special banquet of faith, with the collaboration of all the parish catechists, Don Giuseppe illustrated the meaning of each dish, from the unleavened bread to the boiled egg, to the bitter herbs. Prayers, songs, and the washing of hands among the children (to simulate the washing of the feet on Holy Thursday) accompanied the dinner. The community will be engaged on Sunday, March 31, from 12 to serve 100 meals to the most needy people on the occasion of Easter.
