The popular district of Sanità, in the historic center of Naples, and its tourist circuits were the location of an interesting educational journey promoted by the Department of Political Science of the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" of Caserta, directed by Francesco Eriberto d'Ippolito, in collaboration with the cooperative “La Paranza”.

As part of the lessons on International Instruments and European Policies for Global Tourism Development, the students of the Bachelor's degree in Tourism Sciences and the Master's degree in Design and Management of Tourism Systems, guided by Prof. Aldo Amirante, participated in a moment of direct comparison between the notions learned during the course of study and a practical case of good management of a cultural asset characterized by a strong territorial identity. At the end of the lesson at the Catacombs of San Gennaro, the students met the representatives of the cooperative “La Paranza”, represented by the founding member Mario Donatiello, who explained how to build a successful model according to schemes and principles based on training and involvement of the community.

Following that, from the Catacombs of San Gennaro the tour continued in the remaining successful tourist circuits of Sanità, through the Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità and the Church of San Severo, to end at the Church of the Crociferi, which today hosts the Jago Museums. «Particularly interesting was the in-depth study of the legal and social structure of the network of cooperatives and associations that are revitalizing and enhancing, from the bottom up, according to a model consistent with the Faro Convention, the entire area of Sanità that, in recent years, has been experiencing considerable tourist success», declares Alfo Amirante, teacher and delegate to the Third Mission of the Department of Political Sciences of Vanvitelli.
