An 89-year-old man from Cervinara, in the province of Avellino, died after falling at home while descending the stairs in the house where he lived with his daughter's family.
He probably put a foot wrong and in the fall hit his head violently. Despite the immediate first aid from his relatives, attempts to resuscitate him were in vain.
The 118 medical staff, arrived together with the carabinieri at the via Lagno residence, could only confirm the death.
