Elderly Scams: Operational Center Dismantled in Naples

Elderly scams: the operational center inside an apartment on the fourth floor of vico Parrettari in the Mercato district in Naples has been dismantled. Fake lawyers and suspended carabinieri caught by the real carabinieri during a trap phone call to a 72-year-old woman from Messina. During the investigators' raid, fake lawyers and carabinieri were on the phone with a woman. "Your son has caused a road accident and money is needed to exonerate him". In uniform and in civilian clothes, the real carabinieri from the Borgoloreto station and the Stella operational unit stormed into the apartment pretending to be neighbors, annoyed by the smell of marijuana. They protest loudly and when the door opens, the raid is triggered: Saverio Ianniello, Domenico De Martino, and Roberto Messina will end up in handcuffs. In the apartment, a small call center dedicated to scams against the elderly. Seized were 10 cell phones, over 1600 euros in cash, a small notebook with details of ongoing scams, 4 intact SIM cards and one broken, thrown out of the window shortly after the raid. Also seized was a gram of marijuana. The three have been placed under house arrest and will answer for attempted fraud.
