Empowering Disabled Individuals through a Pizzaiolo Course in Aversa

Exciting, tasty, engaging, educational, inclusive... This was the closing ceremony of the pizzaiolo course for people with disabilities held in Aversa at the Antica Pizzeria da Michele. The event was promoted by the Logos Formazione association as part of the "Tomorrow is another day" project, funded by the "Fund for the inclusion of people with disabilities", and saw the participation of numerous authorities including Paolo Colombo, Guarantor of the rights of people with disabilities of the Campania Region; Immacolata Marsilio, councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Succivo; Loredana di Monte, councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Sant’Arpino; Maddalena Zaccariello, deputy mayor of the Municipality of Casaluce; Vincenzo Santagata and Annamaria Pellegrino, respectively mayor and councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Gricignano; Alfonso Golia, former mayor of the Municipality of Aversa. The 12 students who participated in the course were awarded certificates by the authorities present. In the faces of the students, there was great emotion mixed with the satisfaction of having successfully completed a long and articulated journey that included various phases: from practical-laboratory activities to the preparation of the dough, topping, and baking of the pizza, using typical products of the Neapolitan tradition such as tomato, basil, and mozzarella. On behalf of Logos Formazione - which organized the course and the final event - the president Raffaella Fernanda Alloni expressed "a special thanks to the Antica Pizzeria da Michele, where the trainees carried out their internship, for the usual availability to welcome these social initiatives. I hope there can be more similar enriching opportunities in the future." The main goal of this initiative was to promote the social and work inclusion of people with disabilities, providing them with specific skills in the catering sector, and in particular, in the preparation of pizza, a gastronomic product of significance in the local tradition.
