Enhanced Security Measures in Benevento: A Unified Effort Against Residential Burglaries

The prefect of Benevento, Carlo Torlontano, chaired a morning meeting of the provincial committee for public order and safety, to examine the situation in Airola, Montesarchio, and Sant’Agata de’ Goti, towns affected by a series of residential burglaries, which are currently under investigation. At the meeting, which was attended by the chief of police, the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, as well as the mayors of the involved towns, a detailed analysis of the crime trend was conducted, revealing a slight increase in predatory crimes, in line with the national trend. Furthermore, the provincial heads of the law enforcement agencies detailed the countermeasures being implemented to ensure the best and most appropriate responses to the sense of insecurity felt by the citizens. These measures are being developed through extraordinary territorial control services with the deployment of units from the Carabinieri's Operational Intervention Squads and the Campania crime prevention department of the police, in support of the daily surveillance and control activities carried out by the police forces both in urban centers and in the peripheral areas of the involved municipalities. A monitoring of the existing video surveillance systems in the three municipalities was also carried out to enhance the "security system". The prefect finally emphasized the importance of "active cooperation between local institutions to meet the security demands coming from local communities and the valuable contribution that citizens can offer in the synergistic effort to prevent micro-criminality crimes through the adoption of passive defense measures and the prompt reporting to the police forces of facts and incidents that may affect the regular maintenance of public order and safety."
