Establishment of the Bracigliano Cherry Consortium IGP

The 'Bracigliano Cherry' Consortium IGP has been established. After years of attempts to realize it, this afternoon, Friday, March 22, 2024, thanks to the operational and financial support of the 'Gal “Terra è Vita”' and the assistance of 'Confagricoltura Salerno', representatives of 14 companies, including producers and suppliers, have created an important tool for the enhancement and protection of this extraordinary product at the notary's office. 'It had been years that recognition was awaited for the Bracigliano Cherry, which in the last century was a real economic force of the territory. Having obtained the IGP recognition and having established the Consortium is an important first step. Now we will start and give life to all those initiatives that can enhance and promote our “red treasure”', declared Francesco Albano, the newly appointed president of the Consortium and young owner of a company in the sector. Following the establishment of the consortium, the documentation will be sent to the Masaf for its recognition and at the same time - announced Francesco Gioia, president of the 'Gal “Terra è Vita”' - companies in the area will be invited to certify and join the consortium so that it does not become an exclusive club but works with the sole and only purpose of supporting the producers.
