Extended Yellow Weather Alert for Rain and Storms in Campania

The Civil Protection of the Region, considering the evaluations of the Functional Center, has extended for an additional 24 hours, across much of Campania, the current yellow level weather alert for sudden, rapid, and intense rains and storms. The storm phenomena will still be characterized by forecast uncertainty and rapid evolution and are also expected to include possible lightning, hail, and gusts of wind. Attention must be paid to the hydrogeological risk, as stated in a note. Among the main consequences of the impact on the ground of the rains and storms are flooding, rising hydrological levels of watercourses, water flow on roadways, runoff with material transport, falling rocks, and landslides, also considering the saturation of the soils or hydrogeological fragility conditions of the lands. Due to possible hailstorms and gusts of wind, damage to temporary structures, public green areas, and coverings might also occur. Municipalities are reminded to keep the Municipal Operational Centers (COC) active, to pay attention to the communications of the Unified Regional Operational Room, and to implement all measures aimed at preventing, combating, and mitigating the forecasted phenomena, in line with their respective municipal civil protection plans as well as to monitor the proper maintenance of public green areas. These are the areas affected by the Yellow weather alert for storms: from 12 today, May 1st, until 12 tomorrow, May 2nd, all of Campania; from 12 tomorrow, May 2nd, until 12 the day after tomorrow, May 3rd, all of Campania with the exception of alert zones 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and 7 (Tanagro).
