Monday April 15 marks the start of the first phase of the «Extraordinary Maintenance of Via del Parco Regina Margherita» project, which will continue until mid-June. The operation, including the recent price adjustments, is fully funded by a loan from the EIB European Investment Bank, amounting to € 3,138,748.03.
«With the works on Via del Parco Margherita, the Administration's commitment to intensify urban road maintenance continues» stated Mayor Manfredi «in order to improve livability and urban safety».
«One of the symbolic streets of Naples, which connects Corso Vittorio Emanuele to Piazza Amedeo, is today in such conditions that it causes inconvenience both to the passage of cars, motorcycles, and buses, and to pedestrian use» recalled Councilor Cosenza «thanks to the positive opinion of the Superintendence, given at the time of project approval, the roadway will be made of asphalt for easier maintenance, thus removing the cobblestones».
«The construction site, given the particular location and configuration of the street, requires changes to the area's traffic regulations, changes that were ratified today within the framework of the Permanent Conference of Services, an organism that deals with evaluating the impact of events and construction sites on traffic» added Councilor Cosenza.
Specifically, for the entire duration of the works, which will only take place during the day, Via del Parco Margherita will be used only downhill and Via Pontano only uphill with strict parking control to allow smoother traffic flow. Uphill, vehicles heading to Corso Vittorio Emanuele from Piazza Amedeo, will have to travel via Crispi and via Pontano; buses, on the other hand, will travel via Crispi, via Schipa, and via Giordani. The works will proceed with mobile construction sites that will occupy the road sections affected by the work from time to time, safeguarding in any case the parking spaces for the disabled, which will be relocated as the construction site progresses. Finally, parking will be prohibited on the left side of Via Pontano, in the uphill direction, from Via Crispi to Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
