First Edition of the Sports Day in Floridiana: Fostering Synergy between Nature and Sports

Friday, May 10th, with the goal of promoting synergy between nature and sports, the Regional Directorate of Museums of Campania, in collaboration with the Green Gazebo Committee and the Urban Livability Committee, the GEA Association, and the Vomero Civic Committee, presents the first edition of the Sports Day in Floridiana. The initiative, which is sponsored by the Campania Region, the City of Naples, the V Arenella-Vomero Municipality, ABC Naples, the Regional Committee of Fljkam Campania Wrestling, and the FIDAL Regional Committee of Campania, aims to spread good sports and physical-motor practices in the public interest, especially among the younger segments of the metropolitan population. As event testimonials, Patrizio Oliva, former Olympic and world boxing champion, and Fabiano Santacroce, former Napoli footballer, will be present. The event, aimed at middle school students in the area, will be divided into two parts: the morning in the Villa Floridiana park and the afternoon in the Duca di Martina Museum. The day's program includes, from 09:30 am to 1:00 pm, in the Villa Floridiana Park, a spring mini-marathon for participating students, who will be involved in a course of about 1200 meters, organized by FIDAL Regional Committee Campania and there will also be 'sports islands', outdoor gyms, for the demonstration of various sports disciplines aimed at young people and not only, involving all age groups. The participants in the mini-marathon will be awarded by the City of Naples by Gennaro Esposito, president of the Naples City Sports Commission, and by Claudio D'Angelo, V Municipality Sports Councilor. During the morning, ABC, water as a common good, will be present with gadgets and informative material on environmental education to defend water as a source of life for humans and nature. The welcome and order service will be taken care of by the volunteers of the Shekinah Youth Pastoral Center and the ACCSSA association. The sports demonstrations that will involve the students from the schools present will be: Women's artistic gymnastics at the Teatrino di Verzura, by CAG Napoli, Olympic Wrestling at the Terrace, by the Regional Committee Fljkam Campania Wrestling, Karate and Judo at the Terrace, by the FIAMME ORO Polizia di Stato Napoli Sports Group, Fencing and Chanbarà at the Museo Duca di Martina square, by the Club Schermistico Partenopeo ASD, Chen Xiaojia Style Taijiquan in the Central Meadow, by the Italy Chen Xiaojia association. In the afternoon, at 2:30 pm, the day's program will continue in the Vestibule of the Duca di Martina Museum, where a meeting with experts and representatives of the Institutions on the theme 'Sport in the training path of young people' will take place. After the greetings of Ilenia Gradante, official in charge of the Duca di Martina Museum in Villa Floridiana, Clementina Cozzolino, president of the V Municipality of the City of Naples, will speak Father Rosario Accardo, responsible for the Sports Sector of the Curia of Naples, Sandro Cuomo, Olympic fencing champion, Franco Di Stasio, president of IASMED and professor of the Master of Sport at the University of Chieti, Emanuela Ferrante, Naples City Sports Councilor, Daniela Paparella, principal of the Liceo Classico 'Adolfo Pansini', Margherita Siniscalchi, president of the School, Sports and Youth Policies Commission of the V Municipality of the City of Naples, Maura Striano, Naples City Education Councilor. The meeting will be moderated by Gennaro Esposito, president of the Naples City Sports Commission.
