Forty Thousand Euro Heist at Monteforte Irpino Tobacco Shop

A forty thousand euro heist was carried out last night at a tobacco shop in Monteforte Irpino, in the province of Avellino. The thieves went into action just after three in the morning on Via Molinelle, on the border with the municipality of Avellino, and were filmed by surveillance cameras: there were seven of them, all with their faces covered by hoods and balaclavas. After disabling the alarm system, they broke open the shutter and entered inside. They took away many hundreds of scratch cards and a significant quantity of cigarettes, in addition to sweeping up other products displayed for sale. Tobacco shop owners are preparing to ask for a meeting with the Prefect of Avellino, Paola Spena, after numerous thefts have been committed against commercial establishments in Avellino and its hinterland in recent weeks.
