From Shelter to Autonomy: Challenges for Women Escaping Domestic Violence in Naples

Casa Fiorinda, the shelter for women victims of violence of the Municipality of Naples, promotes the seminar "From Reception in Protection to the Construction of Autonomy", an initiative to deepen the challenges and difficulties that women face in freeing themselves from the circle of domestic violence. The training meeting, for which continuing education credits have been requested for social workers at CROAS, will take place on Friday, March 22 from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Antisala Castel Nuovo - Maschio Angioino and intends to offer a unique opportunity for training and discussion on a topic of great social relevance. The seminar, in particular, aims to analyze the multiple reasons that make it difficult for women to leave situations of mistreatment within their own homes. After having reported, received first aid, and found refuge in a Shelter House or at an Anti-violence Center, for many of them begins a new phase that is equally complex. In fact, women victims of mistreatment often find themselves reliving traumas resulting from long institutional procedures enacted after the report, which represent a further obstacle to their path of healing and redemption. A particularly relevant issue is represented by the increasing presence of migrant women victims of violence, for whom the process of autonomy and work reintegration is even more complicated and delicate, as it is closely linked to the right of citizenship.
