Gerardo Sacco dedicates a jewelry line to Sorrento: I fell in love with this city. It's the first time he comes to Sorrento and immediately there was a connection with the city. Gerardo Sacco, master of goldsmith art, in his 84 years of life has never visited the Coast. Then the turning point after the invitation of the municipal administration and the Sorrento Foundation to exhibit some of his most representative creations in the halls of Villa Fiorentino. And immediately the spark was struck: it was love at first sight. So much so that Gerardo Sacco has already decided to create a jewelry line dedicated to Sorrento. An initiative welcomed with satisfaction by Mayor Massimo Coppola: "It will be the fruit of the union of the excellence of our territory with an Italian excellence and will contribute to convey our beauties all over the world". The exhibition titled "In the sign of tradition: The goldsmith art of Gerardo Sacco" was inaugurated yesterday afternoon by the first citizen, by the CEO of the Sorrento Foundation, Alfonso Iaccarino, and by Sacco himself. Displayed were some of the most representative jewels of the master's flair along with a series of images depicting the great divas who have worn them like Liz Taylor, Sophia Loren, Katia Ricciarelli, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, and many others. Sacco's trade tools, which have made him one of the icons of Made in Italy, were not missing. "Gerardo is not only a friend but a true genius endowed with exceptional creative flair - highlights Alfonso Iaccarino -. His presence gives further prestige to our city". The master was accompanied by his daughter Viviana, sole administrator of the maison, and by some collaborators. "Our strength is the team - explains Gerardo Sacco -. The secret of my creativity is the territory and that is what I try to make understand also to the many young people we train every year thanks to the synergy with the schools". Indeed, from the traditions of his land, Crotone, many of the precious symbols of Sacco's goldsmith art are born, as happens for example with the "Magna Grecia" line. And last night some of Sacco's jewels were the protagonists of a fashion show organized on the wonderful terrace of the 5-star hotel Bellevue Syrene thanks to the collaboration of the owner, Elsa Russo. A group of stunning models paraded showcasing the master goldsmith's creations on the dresses of the fashion house Celentano by Ornella Spartano. An evening dedicated to beauty and the delicacies of the Sorrento peninsula's cuisine. During the event, representatives of the municipal administration and the Sorrento Foundation presented a jeweled box with a personalized dedication to Master Sacco to seal the bond between the city and the artist. The latter reciprocated by gifting a necklace with a medallion depicting a Mermaid to Mayor Coppola. From today until Sunday, May 26, it is possible to visit the exhibition set up at Villa Fiorentino open every day from 10 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm. Entrance ticket 10 euros.
